Innovative Bryant geothermal heat pumps tap into the earth's surface to use the energy and consistent heat found in the ground, a pond or well water as a heat source and heat sink - instead of using outside air like traditional heat pumps. Geothermal heat pumps provide both cooling and heating to your home, and are able to maintain the highest efficiency on even the coldest winter nights or the hottest summer days.
In the summer, a heat pump cools the air in your home much like an air conditioner, In winter, heat is drawn from the ground into the house, while in summer, heat is extracted from the house and transferred back to the ground. Like all heat pumps, a geothermal heat pump works by moving heat from one place to another.
When shopping for a heat pump, look for high Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratios (“SEER” which measures the cooling efficiency of the machine) and high Heating Seasonal Performance Factors (“HSPF”, which measures its heating efficiency). Remember, the higher the SEER and HSPF ratings, the more cost-savings you can realize. Plus, you can add a Bryant gas furnace and enjoy hybrid heating.
Thanks to its Puron® refrigerant, Bryant’s GT-PXU heat pump offers superior comfort while protecting the environment. It is, without any doubt, the most reliable and efficient geothermal system on the market!

The earth absorbs almost 50% of all solar energy and remains a nearly constant temperature of 10°C to 22°C depending on geographic location. Working with an underground loop system, geothermal heating and cooling systems utilize this constant temperature to exchange energy between your home and the earth as needed for heating and cooling.
In winter, water circulating inside a sealed underground loop system absorbs heat from the earth and carries it to the geothermal unit. Here it is compressed to a higher temperature and sent as warm air to your indoor system for circulation throughout your home.
In the summer, the system reverses and expels heat from your home into the cooler earth via the loop system. This heat exchange process is not only natural, but is a natural and highly efficient way to create a comfortable climate in your home.
